Boy, do I hate torque...

Okay, I guess this is kind of a funny story. I'm driving, and decide, oh, I feel like hole shotting. So I stop, mash the pedal to floor, get some wheel spin and hop, and once the car hooks up I hear this awful noise coming from the hood. Loud knocking. Like someone knocking on a door. I hooked at like 3500 rpm or so, right in a nice fat torque curve. I thought my motor spun a bearing, and I was like oh well, time to sell boat and get a 383. Then I thought I fried the torque converter and chipped some flywheel teeth because it shuddered and shook so badly. But I finally go in my garage (was 1/2 mile from house) pop the hood, and hear this loud knocking noise when i open the hood, and go to look for the noise, and its coming from the front of the motor. Im thinking number one cylinder, but I notice something about my shroud, it has a large chunk taken out of it. Then I spin my fan and find a badly bent blade. Apparently what I can piece together is my motor had anough torque that when I stomped on it and it finally hooked the motor broke one of the mounts, came up and slammed my fan into the shroud. Anything else I should look for to be damaged besides the shroud and the fan?

When relaying this story to my dad, he finally asks, "you dont seem too mad, you just dont care. " I simply replied "Its so cool I now have the power to break stuff like that under the hood."

There isn't a lot of space between the distributor and firewall, so make sure you didn't reshape anything there. It probably would be a really good idea to inspect the fuel lines, oil cooler lines, battery cables and ground straps, etc., transmission mount, torque arm mount, and exhaust system.

You might wanna look for play in the water pump shaft, too.
