Converting 2 bolt main to 4 bolt

Is it possible to convert a 2 bolt main 350 SB to a 4 bolt main? Somebody told me the saddles where to thin on the 2 bolt 350 to add the second set of bolt holes in the block to mke it a 4 bolt, is that true?

Milodon makes a kit for around $200 that will convert to 4 bolt. It splayes the outer bolts at an angle into the outer casing, holding the case sides together. The only potential problem I have heard about is the difference in types of metal between the block & caps expanding at different rates.

It is true, but the factory does it anyway.

The castings are the same whether 2- or 4-bolt. So, the saddle is actually weaker on a factory 4-bolt block than on a 2-bolt. The splayed caps are the correct way to do a 4-bolt, which can only be done to a block that was delivered from the factory as a 2-bolt.
