What fitting do I need to make my mechanical water gauge work???
I got an Auto Meter mechanical water temp gauge, and they give you a 1/2" NPT fitting to screw in the probe with. I want to go into the side of the left head, but that is a 3/8" hole. Which fitting do I need, the Auto Meter 2370 or the Auto Meter 2263. I don't know what the difference would be. Thanks.

Not sure which Auto Meter fitting you need, but what I would do is just take the plug or sensor which threads into the hole in the head, and take the sensor for the temp gauge up to lowes or home depot and find a brass fitting adapter. Just about any big hardware store should have thr right fitting, unless its a strange size, but it doesnt sound like it is. BTW, Hardware stores are also handy for bolts, sicne they carry grade 8 bolts. I have all new grade 8 intake and valve cover bolts from Lowes. Just a suggestion...

Did you try checking on their website, or calling autometer? I think it might be autometer.com - I had the same problem with my gauges, I called Summit, and they sent me one of the adapters. That was in '97, if I could find the receipt, it'd be a miracle!
