Currie says 500hp in their ad. If you are using the factory style torque arm mount, I would say that's about right, any more & it may distort the housing.

depends on the 9" you have and whats inside of it, conside T/F cars run a sort of bastard 9". if you buy the right stuff and set it up right you'll not have any problems (that you would have with something else)

Top Fuel hasn't used a 9" since the 60's. They use a 12" now and can only run 3.20 gears.

How much HP it can take depends on a few things. First of all not all gears are the same. Factory production gears may only take 500 hp but pro gears could probably go to 1500. Axle size is another factor. "small" ford axles are 28 spline. Ford also made 31 spline. You can go to 35 or even 40 spline in aftermarket. I only use aftermarket 31 spline axles in my race car. The larger heavy axles can be lightened by having the center of the axles drilled out (gun drilled)

Just like GM diffs, there are ways to strengthen a 9". A rear weld on brace can reduce case deflection. Billet pinion supports are better than stock. Even the center section housing is weak unless you can find a nodular case or buy an aftermarket one.

It's not how much HP can it take but how much torque can it take. There's a big difference.
