porting ????'s
hey guys, I know this has been asked alot, but, I have a set of H.O. heads from a 305 IROC and am going to get them reworked and ported, the question is what would be a good price range for this amount of work from a PRO.
the heads are in pretty bad shape, any suggestions on what to have done to them while he is working them would be appreciated, I don't want to spend alot on them they just have to work until I get the "BIG BOY" ready to go in the car. maybe about 6 mths -- 1 year.

i know this doesn't answer your question, but if it were me i'd buy a set of aftermarket heads and most likely i wouldn't be putting a lot of time, effort, or money into a 305 unless class rules forced me to run one and if that were the case i'd build one around a 4" bore. ought to figure several hundred dollars at least plus 150 for valve grinding and such.

I agree, there's no point in spending that kind of money on those inferior heads, just to throw them in the garbage later. Port them yourself instead for the $40 or so that the Standard Abrasives kit costs; or just buy a set of decent heads, for about what you'll have in those by the time you get done, except that you'll have some good heads then instead of worked-over crap.

I hogged the snot out of my L98 heads for a grand total of $38 for the Standard Abrasives kit.....The money I saved went for a torque converter..
