help, wont start, and cant get exaust hooked up

Hello

Well im very pissed off rite now, so pissed I want to dump gas all over my car and light it on fire, and laugh as it burns.

See, my car was supposed to go up for sail tommorow(today is the deadline for putting the ad in)

Friday, the car wont start, I figure, no biggie, I know it has needed a starter for a while, so I take the starter out, have it bench tested, it shoots out sparks and fire, its bad.

I purchase a new one put it in.
Turn key..nothing, zero, notta....

so, its not getting power, so I run a wire off the little post on the starter and touch it to the battery, starts rite up, so I figure, oh thats just great, something else is broken now to.

So what is it? Is it the ignition tumbler? is that expensive?
Since I have switched the car over to a carbeurator(originally tbi) do I need to worry about the passkey or vats?
What else could it be?

Also, to get the starter out, I had to drop the exasust, rather than unbolting the Y pipe, cuz it was PITA to put on, I removed all the header bolts....
This is where it gets fustrating, I bolted up the pasenger side, no problems, now the drivers side, I got the bolts in for the #1 cylinder, but all the others are misalighned by about 1MM.
Do you have any idea how irritating it is to be 1MM off? and no amout of jacking, tugging, pulling, prying, swearing, yelling, etc etc helps?
the header needs to come up about 1MM, I placed a jack under the collecter, and it only serves to raise the entire car, not the header of course.

PLEEZ HELP!

No one will buy a car that needs to have a wire touched to the battery to start. The starting is the biggest issue, im sure I will eventually get the exaust up, im gonna have to remove the y pipe I think

I would guess the relay by the battery or one of the fusable links to the starter or off the relay...give the wires a tug, and see if they stretch or break...as for the headers, if you took them off, they will go back on..hate it when that happens....

I finally got the headers on, I took off the pass side that had lined up, and then lined up the to outermost bolts on the drivers side and did the same on the pass. side(with the help of jacking up the collecters) and they went in!

where are the fusible links? where are the relays?

I know engines, but dont know crap about electrical.

there is alot of info if you type "fusible link" in the search. Other people are better qualified than myself, on this topic. Hope it works out for ya.
