Finding TDC????????

I just want to double check and make sure I'm doing this right. I took my block in to be machined and now I'm putting it back together. My question is when reinstalling the distributor how can you make sure it's positioned corretly? If I line the 2 dots up on the timing gears and install the distibutor with the rotor positioned at the #1 spark terminal will this be correct?? I didn't take note of the distributor location when I was dismanteling.

By the way just for your knowledge this isn't my V8 Camaro I'm working on, it's a 4 cylinder out of my dads Jeep.

i like to install the gear set and chain dot to dot, or 12 and 6, then spin the crank till both dots are straight up, then set the distributor with the rotor pointing to #1 on the cap

I just got done doing this = ]

I just pointed it at the #1 point and removed the #1 plug, stuck a screw driver in there and turned the crank until it was all the way to the top.

I think this is what you are asking ...
