PLEASE HELP wheres tom when you need em

Ok skip my previous post... ok I got my steering wheel off.. lock plate.. that and so on.. and now.. if it take off the lock cyclinder and force plastic shroud that is around the lock cyclinder back just enough to slip in the lock cylinder back in (only w/o the shroud) I can turn the key.. I can look over on the side and I see that spring go all the way over and the car starts... Now the trick.. I take the lock cylinder back out.. put the plastic shroud where it should be.. slip the lock cylinder back in the way it goes.. and turn the key.. and nothing.. hit it.. hit it.. turn really really hard.. and it just barely stats.. i'm guessin this spring isn't making contact or just barely is.. if you refer to the pictures in this thread -> https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=113811 you could probably get a better idea of my problem.. any solutions?? Please I need something soon.. i drive this to work =(

* Note the 'plastic shroud' that i'm referring to is part #19 on that diagram.. and the spring thing I refer to is part #33 .. any other ideas please

You should be able to hold the outer housing of the lock in
one hand and turn the key as though it were in the column.
If the whole unit turns with the key (like the wrong key is in the lock), then the lock is bad. Be careful to not break the housing at the end of the lock where the plastic retaining tab snaps in. If this area is broken out, the key won't turn to the accessory
position. Ray Buck has an article on tilt column repair
in the tech section of www.montecarloss.com. It has good text
and pictures.

the lock isn't bad as I have the original key cyclinder and a brand new one and both do the same thing... i'll try to hold the key cyclinder when I turn it and have the plastic shroud off and see if thats it...
