Windshield Wiper Probs

Well, both of my windshield wipers are broken. These cars are dangerous enough in the rain, but without windshield wipers, they are pretty much death traps. I have some pictures to illustrate what is wrong.

The first picture shows to problems with the drivers side windshield wiper. First, the clip that holds the wiper onto the **** has been broken off. So I need to know where I can find a new clip. (other than a junkyard). I have been unable to find one anywhere and it looks like I will need to get new windshield wipers (which is a possiblility when you look at my second picture). Secondly, the **** is stripped to hell and I will need a new one of those.

Here in this second picture, you can see that I am missing part of the windshield wiper. This happened when I broke the first windshield wiper. The passanger side wiper hit the first one, and then I lost the ends of the wiper that held on the wiper blade. So it looks as though I need new wipers.

While I am at it, I have another problem. My windshield wiper doesn't like to turn off at all. When I switch the control to the off position, the wipers don't turn off until a few min later. Anyone know the cause of this problem?

I would also like to know if I can get some part numbers so I can order the parts off of gmpartsdirect if I need to.

Thanks for your help guys!

go to a junk yard and get new wiper arm and it may work on the splined post, or just buy a new post also. not sure about te switch not shutting off.

Don't waste your time or money trying to get that kind of stuff from GM. Get the wiper arm shaft from the junkyard.

The not-turning-off problem is extemely common on GM cars using this type of wiper motor, I've had 2 cars that did it... yo uneed a new wiper motor. You can get that at any parts store you're comfortable with. Again, GM will make you grab your ankles for that, they're simply the wrong source for that type of part.

That not turning off problem at least with my car was just the black cover that goes on the motor. Mine was craked and when i got another one it fixed it. If you get a whole new motor make sure you get one that has your options like delay and winshield washer. Those components are in the motor case itself. Thats why I would try to just get the black cover. Also my wipers stripped to both arm and post. The post is real hard to change but so far with mine a new arm from the junk yard worked great!

You need the wiper transmission & wiper arm, get one from a salvage yard or check one of the advertisers at the top of this page.
