Vortec Heads, Intake, block.

Wondering if you guys could help me out a bit....
Is there any improvements in the vortec block by itself?
It has a roller cam right?
Can i use full roller rockers on vortec heads?
What kind of rockers are on a stock 98 vortec engine?
What exactly is the difference in a vortec intake?
I know thats alot of questions, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

The Vortec block is basically the same. If it's out of a 2500 or larger truck it will be a 4 bolt main. 95 & up have hyd roller cams. To use roller rockers without modifcation, you will need the self aligning type. The stock ones are stamped steel, self aligning, non roller type. The Vortec intake ports are taller than standard with a different bolt pattern. A standard intake will not cover the intake port without serious modification (welding & redrilling).

How difficult is it to bolt the vortec heads and intake to an older sbc?
Is it possible to use a hyd roller cam in an older sbc?

Voretecs will bolt right on no prob. But you will need a Vortec specific intake and if you plan on using a cam with .480 + lift plan on getting new springs and the valve guides cut down a bit. If you don't want to pay the insane price for self aligning rockers then you need to get screw in studs and guide plates and hardened pushrods. I used K-motion K-700 springs in mine also.
