The VATS system is circumvented on my 88 GTA with a resistor. I'm having a problem occasionally when the engine won't crank after being shut off after driving. Waiting 5 minutes, the engine cranks & starts. What I have noticed when it won't crank is this. When you key on to the run position, the security light on the dash comes on & stays on. I know at that point the engine won't crank. Under normal conditions when you key on, the security light comes on momentarily, & then goes off. Turning the key to the start position, the engine cranks & starts. Is what I noticed with the security ligh an indication of some type of timer malfunction in a relay or the ECM?
