blue smoke PCV???

ok here is the problem, when i first start my car, when i rev the engine, or i am accelerating from a stop, bluish grey smoke comes out of my tailpipe. Its not a great deal of smoke but its enough for the DMV to fail me for smoking. I know this could be a few things and i do know oil must be burning somewhere. It doesnt happen when im driving either. i plan to run a compression test on the car later this week, but i was wondering what the chances are it could just be my PCV. I just gave the car a tuneup and my plugs were wet black on the tops. Any ideas???

Probably valve guide seals if they've never been replaced. That's very common in Chevy small block motors.

How many places did you ask this question? You didn't like my answer on the TPI Board (valve seals) so you decided to ask the question all over the place hoping someone would tell you a different answer?

Well, you can ask the question 100 times, it's still your valve seals.

I've gotta agree to the seals. But hey, PCV only costs $2 so it's worth a try. A short term solution could be an anti-smoke oil additive (STP makes one that works reasonably well). They make a visible difference, but I can't say how well it would help you pass an exhaust gas analyzer test.

could also be your rings. I had totaly trashed vavle guide seals in my 305 and it did most of its smoking right when the engine started. Bad valve guide seals are far more common with our v8's, tough. All those oil additaves are garbage. Nothing more then modern day snake oil.
