need help with oil pan removal

I'll pretty much have eveything under control but I can't remember which crank postition is optimal for pan clearance in the front. I remember reading it somewhere but I can't remember where. I thought it was #1 at TDC but not sure. Anyone know for sure?

found it guys. incase you guys were wondering, the timing mark should be at six o'clock for easiest removal. I think that it puts the first counter weight in the up position for best pan clearance.

Exactly correct. 6 o'clock is the magic place.
Mine's been sitting at 6 for 2 weeks now. replaced my pan and still waiting for my starter.
