I have an 89' Trans Am L98 Ported polished heads, Intake matched, ported polished runners/plenum/intake, 1 5/8 inch headers into a 96 trans Am Cat back, no cats, Ported MAF, no screens, K/N air filter, baffles removed from air housing, 1:6:1 Proform super narrow Full roller rockers, new stock lifters, new pushrods(stock) (I have access to prom burning equipment, Now, what i need to know, for people who have aftermarket cams, I want a lil bit of lope, I want to be able to hear it at an idle, but i dont want to sacrifice a lot of power for it, mabey a lil on the low end(obviously) doesnt bother me.... not to much though, what i would like is advice on specific cam grinds, w/ or w/o part numbers as long as i can find it....Anyone who has an aftermarket cam, a lil more on the extreem end with sound files would be greatly appreciated, thanks for the help and time in advance Matt Manglos

Since you're running a MAF setup, you might be able to get a little more lope than a MAP system. So basically to achieve more lope, you're gonna need a lower LSA. Since you still have a computer, I wouldn't go less than 112* when getting up into the 220 and above durations. Remember that the LSA plays the biggest part in the idle, not the duration (to a certain extent).

Look at the Comp "305 and "306" grinds. They're hydro rollers designed for TPI cars with modified computers.

It actually has a pretty noctiable lope at idle. It's still got the stock chip and it's running very rich. I really like the power range of this cam. It's advertised at 1000-5000rpm, but it pulls right off idle to 5500 very strong and can hit 63-6500rpm tops.

I'm running the Comp Extreme 218/224 .496/.502 112 LSA cam I was running the stock chip and it was running great. I am now running a custom chip thats almost the same as the stock. with the stock chip i was idleing around 550 and 500 in drive. a little low but the car drove great.

Another thing to concider is driveability, when going with a lopy cam. May cause some bucking about 25 to 30 mph if you have a tall gear. I had a 342 in mine for about a month while building the 10 bolt I'm running now. Didn't care for the 342, had to run in second gear in town. I still use my airconditioner though. I like the xe268 comp cam, has a nice lopy idle, and power to 6000.
