LG4 Power
OK, I realize this has been covered before and I searched but i really couldn't find an answer to the question at hand. How much power can be gotten out of an LG4 without spending absurd amounts of money, say... If I spend 4k how much power would I have out of it? What kind of 1/4 times? ALSO... I was looking at one of the 3rd gen sellers that advertises on this page and they sell used 350 TPI's for 850$, How hard would it be to convert from carb to TPI? Thanks guys!

IMO dont bother with the lg4, for 4 grand you can buy the 350 h.o. with 330hp and 380tq with everything but carb and exaust for 3100 bucks, put some headers and a good carb on to bring you up to 4k and you could expect low 14's, possibly even high 13's. The lg4 has so many weak points that you have to pull it anyway and if a 305 goes out, a 350 must go in, but this is just my two cents, i honostly want a decently built 400ci motor but ill live with an l69 for a while, 305's are good daily drivers

Yeah with 4k to spend I'd go crate engine too. Don't forget some SFC eventually.
With the LG4 you'd need to replace the heads or port the snot out of em. Replace the cam, full exhaust. Those are the week points of the motor, which is basically everything. If emissions are a problem you can still stick with the Q-Jet with a 350.

Forget TPI, it's not worth retro-fitting to. Way to many $$$
Just choose ALL of your parts with a 350 in mind, for when the 305 bites it.
300 hp is like falling off a log. All the usual suspects. Cam, intake, heads, headers, 3" exhaust, etc.
This will cost maybe $2000 tops.
That leaves you another 2 grand for other purposes ... hmm ... :hail:
