How much is a '84 Z28 HO worth?
I'm looking at a '84 Z28 HO that needs some work like paint ( few dents and a little rust here and there). It needs a new heater core. Needs to have the carb. rebuilt. It had a rebuild at 60k miles and is now at 114K. When rebuilt they put in 3" exhaust and a bigger cam. My impression is that the owner doen't know how to maintain an engine properly (air filter really dirty). He says it gets about 13 mpg but it probably needs a tune up badly.
I also noticed what appears to be a front crank seal leak. It is a 5 spd and seems to shift smoothly. The clutch engages at the very top of the pedal travel so may just need adjustment or new disc but no noise. The interior is fair. Dash is good. speedo goes up around 160 mph. It has t-tops and needs new seals on them. Needs a paint job but no major body damage. Could use new window seals as well. Steers straight. Black trim is rusting around rear window.
What's it worth now and 15 years from now?
Also what are some good sources for parts besides Chevy and junk yards?
Thanks

I would pass on it, unless you plan on it not being reliable. Especially since the previous owner hasn't maintained it. And unless he has a receipt for the cam, don't trust him.
go to autotrader.com, you will find a lot to choose from. Look around, don't get in any hurry. I found my 84 z28 with a freshly rebuilt 350, and newly rebuilt trans with a new suspension. You can find really good deals, just be patient. I got mine really cheap and havn't had any problems almost 15,000 miles later. Good luck with the car hunt. Don't worry a great deal will come along, some one will need money bad and you will find a steal like I did.
