Searching out Vacuum leaks

I am really getting annoywd with the way my car runs lately. No matter what I fix the car will return to the state of running like crap again. Yesterday I grabbed a new TPS and installed it. Helped my idle problem out a bit. Today I can't get the car to idle let alone get out on the road and drive it.

Any suggestions for finding vacuum leaks?

Edit: TTT!

Come on guys! I heard from someone that you can spray somthing on the vacuum lines and see if the idle picks up. What is it?

(Just for clarification, I also heard of somthing you can spray on the engine, and if you DO have a vacuum leak it will cause a small popping noise or even a small fire, which I don't want.)

Would that be propane? Open the valve of an unlit propane torch and run it along the vacuum hoses, fittings, gasket flanges, etc. The idle speed should drop and idle quality should improve when the propane is drawn into the intake.

I heard it was water, but I haven't tried it yet. I was told the car will do what Vader says with water. I have never heard of using propane, but if Vader suggested it, it will probably work. If you do this, don't let the fluid get into the air filter. It will have the same effect on the engine, and it will make it hard to figure which hose is the leak.

you can use carb and choke cleaner. thats what i use. idle will pickup - engine will rev higher. in other words, you'll know when youve found the leak.
