Gen II small block with HEI???

would it be possible for me to use my HEI distributor with the engine in the hyperlink below? i know i would have to get a vortec intake, and that my carb would bolt down onto that no problems. but will that engine support the HEI distributor?

I wouldn't go with a purchased remanufactured engine, I just don't trust them or their warranties.
I'd recommend something like this, http://www.sdpc2000.com/cart.asp?act...id=120&pid=115 it costs a little more but IMHO it would be well worth it.
But, yes your distributor should work in that other engine.

what i am mainly concerced about is whether or not the distributor will work in a 1996-1998 L31 engine

The one in the picture 'brodyscamaro' doesn't look like a gen 2 to me. It has a place for a mech pump, and the timing gears are wrong.

that is a universal pic that they use for the SBC's in there website. He was looking at a vortec longblock on ebay wasn't sure if the vortec blocks would have a provision in the back of the lifter valley for his Dist. so I took him to www.mortec.com and showed him that it does.
