alt burnout?

What would cause the altenator to go bad after one week? I have a shucks life time warranty altenator and it has went out twice with in the last two weeks? I do not have a short that i am aware of. I checke the connections and they seem OK.????

a couple of things to think of.

make sure when you are replacing the alt. the battery is disconected. Also make sure the battery is fully charged, or the alt will over work itself trying to get the battery back up to par. When you connect the battery back up, put the neg on last, this will prevent arcing.

I always buy the lifetime warranty on alternators and starters...why? Because they suck...(remanufactured )I bought 3 one time before I got a good one...not real uncommon.
