Turn the key forward and...nothing

My cousin has an 88 TA. For a while now, when he turns the key back for accessory, nothing comes on. Wasn't a big deal. Yesterday, he turned the key forward to start it, nothing happened...at all. The stereo and all the accessories work (when forward), but the car doesn't click, turn, sputter, not a damn thing. Whatcha guys think? Ignition switch? Neutral safety switch? We're gonna go look now, I'll be back to check this post in about 30.

Later,

Kelly

I would say that sounds like the neutral safety switch.

Same thing happened to me several weeks ago, ended up being the switch. I put in an Ignited push button switch w/ a red lense that says "Engine Start". Not only does it work, but check out your friends' faces when you start the car pushing the button It's pretty cool.

Well, we went and pulled the column down, felt around, thought about pulling the console to check the neutral safety switch, but decided against it out of pure laziness.

We tried jumping the starter by running a wire from the hot battery post to the solenoid and not a f u c k i n thing happened. Actually, it made a spark, but that's it. I'm guessin the solenoid was bad. We went and picked up a starter for only 30 bucks new. Is this normal? Was the guy at Autozone smoking crack again? I know when I bought my 6-speed starter, it was well over $100, but that's a lot of f u c k i n metal and s h i t for only 30 bucks.
