starter installation question

I should have asked in the post below--oh well. I am going to replace my starter in my 84 Trans Am L69 tommorrow. I bought a Delco remanufacture. Is tere anything special I need to do to replace it, other than unbolt the old one and bolt in the new one? Any helpful tips or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

I highly recommend disconnecting the negative terminal from the battery before you do anything.

might have to drop the ypipe, which means you might have to cut it.

Unbolt.

Rebolt.

No magic to it, no need to disturb the Y-pipe if it's stock, especially don't cut anything, just disconnect the battery before you start. You have to turn the starter to some weird angle to get it to come through, nose down with the solenoid toward the rear IIRC; experiment until you get it through. It will go.

I've got an '84 LG4. When I had to replace mine, that Y-pipe DEFINATELY was a problem. I was able to weasel that thing out of there though, but it did take about 10 minutes. Just be patient. Once you unbolt the starter, you've got to find the right position for the solenoid to be in to have it slide out. It's not that easy, in fact, it's pretty frustrating.

I don't think it will make a difference at all that you have the L69. Just remember: that starter is going to probably **** you off, so be expecting it!

Piece of cake--I removed the starter today--2 bolts and two wires, it slipped right through th "Y" pipe--no problem at all. It took more time to jack the car up then it did to swap starters--20 minute job.
