I just had a similar problem. When I bought my car, the AC blower switch acted funny. I had to wiggle it to work. Then one day I lost all speeds but one. High speed was now on the first(low) position. Additionally, if I had my AC or fan on when I stopped the motor, the fan would just keep blowing.
I was advised to check the high speed fan relay. I pulled it and replaced it eventhough it looked good. Started car, and the problem was still there.
Last week I finally got around to checking if it was the switch. After careful removal of the radio, I discovered that the A terminal on the switch had been totally fried. Replacement returned the functions to proper working order.
If you need me to walk your through the AC blower switch replacement, I can type-up a more detailed description. Just make sure you have a 9/32" socket, a 1/4" box-end wrench, and perhaps some needle-nose pliers. (i'll be referencing a Firebird though.)
