Fuel Pump Pressure Relief

I am pulling the top end off my 350 TPI. I pulled the fuse to the fuel pump, but it just keeps on running.

How long should it take to relieve the fuel pressure so I can disconnect the fuel lines? Is there any other way?

What will happen if the fuel pressure has not gone down...I already blew the engine I don't want to toast it too!

It shouldn't take very long. If there is still fuel in the lines it will just spill out. Just don't have an open flame near your car and it'll be fine. I used to not even pull the fuse, I'd just wrap a towel around the fittings in front of the car and absorb all of the fuel that leaked out, then use that to clean something.
