I am going to be replacing my intake manifold this Friday and need a new water neck. I still have my ECU, but the smog equiptment will be removed. The water neck I have right now has 2 sensors on it. One of the sensors has 2 vacuum lines...one going to the heat riser valve and the other to the smog pump. The other one has 2 electrical wires coming out of it going towards the firewall.
Do I need a water neck with fittings for these 2 sensors. The smog pump is going on Friday as well and I'm installing my headers Saturday, so that eliminates one of the sensors. What about the one with the wires???
Thanks for any help.

If i'm not mistaken, the sensor on the water neck with the wires is the coolant temp. sensor for the computer. I know what your thinking, the temp. sensor is in the drivers side head, right. Yes the sensor for the temp gauge is in the drivers side head but the sensor for the computer is in the water neck.
Thanks for the info!
Ok..looks like its the CTS. Question is, will I throw codes if it isnt there?? Or does someone make a waterneck with only a thread for the CTS.

Yes, Just purchased one off ebay 3 months ago. Got rid of my smog pump and exhaust manifolds, but kept the sensor wires. It is chrome and has the sensor opening. If you don't see it during an ebay search, do a search for Noah Performance. If he hasn't listed it in his online catalog, just email him with the descriptionOriginally posted by 82CamaroZ28

You can buy a cast-iron water outlet at any real parts store for about $10, and it's PERMANENT and LAEK-FREE, unlike the factory chinesium one or the chrome ones that are cast out of zamac (zinc alloy) that act as sacrificial anodes so they corrode away by deliberate design, and will leak every time, sooner or later, without exception.
The larger hole is for the thermal vacuum switch that works the heat riser valve. The other fitting on the TVS is its vacuum supply, it goes to hard manifold vacuum, the AIR management valve supply tees off of the same source. The smaller hole is for the CTS which you must have if you keep the computer.
If you want to eliminate the TVS, get the right water outlet anyway, and just put a brass plug in the extra hole; you never know when you might need it. You don't want to know how I know that...
