Power antenna went bad, help!
I've always hated power antennas, and what do u know, it goes bad. I started up my car this morning like usual, press the power button on the radio to turn on. Well like normal, the antenna rises, but this time only halfway, and it stayed there. I got mad, got out and raised it myself all the way up, but the motor was still working, like it was still trying to push it up. So then i lowered the antenna by hand, but it would not go up anymore.
I get back inside the car, and now i turn the power off of the radio, but the antenna doesnt go all the way down. The worse part about it is that even when i shut my engine off, the motor on the antenna is still running, trying to push the antenna down. Now everytime i closed the engine i had to disconnect the battery just to keeping it from draining the power. WTF!!!
I checked the fuse box under the steering wheel, and nothing there controls the power to the power antenna, so i dont know what to do. I did manage to locate the actual motor, but to get to it, OMG, u have like remove the side fender to access it. The only thing i can see is to cut the wires that lead to the motor.
Primary goal: Cut power to antenna motor
Secondary goal: Replace power antenna with a non-power, flexible antenna.
Guys please help!
OOPS WRONG SUBJECT, I'M POSTING THIS TO ELECTRONICS, PLEASE REPLY THERE!

I just did this to my 84 camaro. Just pull the plastic push pins out of your plastic inner fender. If I am not mistaken I think it is only one bolt you have to remove that holds the antenna in. Don't forget to remove the top where the antenna comes out of the top of your fender. It just unscrews, and it will slide right off. Once you take the top part off and take the 1 bolt out, you just have to mess with it a little to get it to come out. Make sure and turn the wheels as if you are making a sharp turn to the right. I have 245/50 tires on mine, so that didn't give me much room to work. If you have alot of time, just take the whole wheel off, and that will give you plenty of room to work. Once you have the wheel off, just pull the plastic fenderwell down and get to work. Once you get the old one wiggled out, dont forget to cut it and secure your new antenna (good!!) too the end of your old one. By doing this you can pull it right through the same hole your old one is roughted through. Make sure it is secured very tight though, try pulling it apart. If you can pull it apart, secure it better. I just used black tape on mine, and it came apart. If your new cable comes loose from your old one, then you have to re run your new antenna wire. Which is a very big pain in the @ss. Just make sure you get it attached together good, because you don't want to have this problem. Please take my word for it, you don't. Once you get the new one pulled through, then it is a piece of cake. I have the flexible rubber antenna on mine. Good luck, and keep me posted. Jason
The antenna relay is located to the rear of the ECM (on the passenger side) in the dash. You can remove the relay to prevent the antenna from running constantly.
To solve the original problem, you'll probably have to replace the antenna assembly since it sounds like the cable is broken.
This may help a bit:

Hey thanks for the info guys. This other guy at the electronics subject told me about the relay. It was located right behind the passenger dash area, right behind where it says Performance Suspension. So now no power goes to the antenna, which means it dont drain the battery to go up or down.
As far as removing it and replacing the antenna, **** thats alot of work for a damn antenna!
But i'll paste that info to wordpad for now, thanks jfox.
