tall deck 350, block?
a friend was looking for a motor and someone wanted what seems like alot of money for a well used stock short block, while claiming that it is a TALL deck.
i know of tall deck big blocks, thats how we get the 502 unless i'm mistaken
so tell me folks, is there such a thing?

a big block that is only 366 cu. in.
thats crazy, never heard of it before,is that like the big block version of the 305?
guess i never considered the aftermarket or gmpp blocks. there would be several but still none factory instaleld in a thirdgen. if it is a preformance block it'd have some markings on it that would make it stand out and a few other things, like blind head bolt holes

It came stock in some trucks.
As with most truck BBC's, it was a tall deck.

No. They are rather tall, but they're not "tall deck" blocks, since there's no "short deck" version of the same motor. Good guess trying to decipher the "mind" of an uninformed person though.
The 366 and 427 are the only Chevy motors found in production vehicles that would be considered "tall blocks". The passenger car motors, which are 396, 402, 427 and 454, are all "short deck".
F*rd uses this method throughout their product lines; for instance, the 302 is a "short deck", the 351W is a "tall deck". The older FE blocks seems like had several deck heights.
Olds & Pontiac have also done this. For instance, a Pontiac 389, 326, 400, 350, or 455 is a "tall deck" (although nobody calls it that, those are just the standard Pontiac motor), while the 301 is a "short deck". In Olds, the 400 & 455 are "tall deck", but the 350 and 403 are "short deck". You see all kinds of arguments allt he time about Pontiacs being either a "big block" or a "small block", but they're not, they're either tall or short. The bore spacing is the same on all their blocks, which is one of the 2 or 3 most basic measurements of a production engine block (along with deck height...)
