weirdest thing happened.....
I goto start my car this morning, turn the key and no power at all to the starter
power to everything else, and plenty of power, put the charger on and the battery was great.
so I take a screwdriver and touch posts on the starter. it turns over.. but it freewheels? the starter spun but didn't turn the engine
didn't think that was possible so I figured the starter is toast.
I decide to try to start it one more time
hit the key and it fires up
HUH?
later that day it does the exact same thing, nothing worked, I touched posts on the starter again and the key works again.
the connections on the starter are solid, the cables brand new, ignition switch brand new. It acted like i had it in gear and tryed to start it. nothing happens.
I tried to start in all gears, nothing happens until i touch posts.

If it freewheels then the bendix isn't making contact with the flywheel, so either the starter is needs to be rebuilt/replaced or the flywheel is missing some teeth. Since it has started, I figure it's the former case.
