454 BBC oil filter nightmare please give ideas

hi this is non thirdgen but i have a quick q...
we are restoring a '72 vette and we are all done putting the motor back together... however the oil filter has been on the motor for about 10 years and it WILL NOT come off! the metal housing actually started to twist from the force we were putting on it with the filter wrench soooo i dont think were getting it off by normal means. if you guys have ever encountered nething like this ur input and ideas would be appreciated.

Strip the metal shell off of the base plate, and use a hammer and chisel to turn the base plate.

heat the base with a torch and melt the sealing ring off. maybe that will help some.

pound a screwdriver through the side of the filter then use the screwdriver handle to turn the oil filter. ive had to do that a couple times.

Exactly what I was thinking. Either way, your going to have to rip that motha apart to get it off. Your best be would be to heat it up with a tourch and try to twist it off.

Good Luck!

This happened to me when I bought my car. Apparantly the guy put the oil filter on with an air ratchet or something along those lines but I ended up tearing the entire housing off then using a hammer and some old pliers to turn the filter base. Not the best thing to do...but sometimes unavoidable
