fuel injectors?
is changing fuel injectors on an 89 trans am gta 350 a big job, i'm in a hurry right now have to go tow the car down here, but i'll write more info about it soon...
wondering what psi stock fuel injectors are for an 89 gta 350tpi, also any performance gains by putting bigger injectors into a pretty stock engine, no major things....just computer chip, cold air, and catback exhaust?? thanks
The fuel rail pressure for an L98 TPI should be 37 PSIG, +/- 3 PSIG. That is at idle with the regulator vacuum line connected. Disconnecting the vacuum line should increase the pressure to at least 44 PSIG.
If you were asking about flow (fuel output) of the injectors, an L98 should have 22 lb/hr injectors. A 305 would have 19 lb/hr injectors. Increasing the flow rate of the injectors on an otherwise stock engine will probably have negative results. It would be more cost effective and probably more effective overall to convert the pressure regulator to an adjustable type so the maximum fuel pressure can be tailored to the modifications you might make. When modificaions become more serious, you may want to considered the ECM PROM for reprogramming to match your combination. Examples of this would be a more aggressive cam profile, significant intake tract modifications (not just plenum porting) and head/valve work.
