Any opinions on vortech?
I'd suggest you learn how to spell it first before trying to build it.
Yeah I think a "Vortech" kit would be awesome. It'll cost you upwards of $3000. Should give you at least 100 HP extra.

But Gm says vortec so I'll go with that.

Wow, one misspelling and all he gets is an insult. Some hospitality... It's very easy to add that h if one is used to typing the word tech.
As a semi-regular here, I'll try to give you a good answer.
It really depends on how far you wanna take it. I'm personally looking at the iron L31 Vortec heads. http://www.sdpc2000.com/cart.asp?act...id=277&pid=140 Also, I'd go with the Edelbrock Performer RPM intake (www.Summitracing.com , Part #EDL-7116). Comp XE268 cam works pretty damn nice, too. There's a kit with lifters and timing chain and everything for $280. That's the basics there. Everything else should be minor stuff. Just get a good set of headers and a good exhaust and make sure you don't have a poo-like block and pistons and you should be good.
That's NOWHERE near the $3000 that Oddysey is telling you about. You could even get the Fastburn heads and still not be anywhere near $3000 unless you're building the block up from scratch, which I doubt you're doing.

Check out my new setup in my sig. A guy with a Monte SS that I got these heads off went 12.6 on motor with a crappy Edelbrock RPM cam. I'm hoping I can get into the same area.

>thanx for the the more serious replies.
Hmm... Looks like I can do something with this. These are my plans for the first Mod on the stock Bird.
>Headers should be here by tuesday (Edelbrocks)
>Exhasut I can get by this Friday (Vortec or Flomaster hard decision
)
>A week or two later I can sell off these drag racing heads
to my Bro for $1000.00 bucks. They were only used once on a Chevy Truck that broke its 4 speed muncie pulling a wheelie down the drag strip. On my Bro's Camaro when he gets around to rebuilding his engine it should be able to yank them.
>with this money I can buy some vortec heads, possibly a comp cam or crane, and all the other rods and hardware
>So my the end of the month I might just have these parts in my sig.
>edelbrock headers
>Flows, or vortec exhaust
>Vortec heads
>havent decided on the cam yet
>roller rockers if there is some change out of the G

That might be why I confuse vortec and vortech. But there are some kind of vortech mufflers.
>man this sux! I know they exist but I cant find the web site.
can anyone help here. Have you heard of this exhaust
