Need a how to on rocker arms...

I ordered a set of summit stamped roller tipped 1.6 ratio rocker arms with the long slots today and i'm just wondering what i'm gonna be getting myself into with the installation. It seems pretty straightfoward, setting the valve lash i think is what scares me the most. What guage feeler should i be using to set lash with? I'm supposed to torque down until i cant pull the guage out, and then back off a half turn right? this is with each rocker in the down/closed position correct? Any tips or hints you can give me on making this go as smoothly as possible will be appreciated...

Eric

Valve lash should be pretty easy. Unless you have gone to solid lifeters, all you do is get the RA snug on the sping and push rod and then tighten another 1/2 to 3/4 turn. Then tighten the set screw. Took me about 45 min. to do all of them. It's just a PITA to turn the enigine.

i believe you're confused about using a feeler gauge, unless you have solid liftersand if so you already know how to run the valves. since i'm sure you have hydrolics buy, borrow, or stea la dial caliper and useing the depth rod measure from the top of the rocker stud to the top of the nut, then swap rockersand when you put the nut back on replicate the original measurement. long as you don't use poly locks you'll be in good shape.

ede,
i was wondering if i could do it like that, but i assumed i couldn't because i was replacing the original rockers, not reusing them. what your saying is that it shouldn't make a difference though right? If thats the case then this should go real easy wouldn't it. I wouldn't even have to be hand cranking the engine to get each one in the down position would i? Where can i buy a dial caliper and depth rod? how much should i be expecting to pay for it. Let me know if i'm still way off base here, but i'm pretty sure i'm geting it pretty well....

On a side note, if i have a .454" lift now, that would go to something like a .484" lift with the 1.6's wouldn't it?
