run bad with no egr?

i bought an lt1 cam and plan on putting it in, so the smartest choice is obviously replace the intake while i am at it. i decided to go with the Weiand X-CELerator. part number in jegs is 925-7546. the intake manifold does not have a spot for the egr valve. i am a little worried about the engine running like crap without the EGR on it. i am not concerned about emissions, but i just want to know if my car wont run right with an intake manifold without the egr valve on it. some info on my car, 1990 firebird, lo3 305, mild mods, 130k miles, TBI. and if anyone has some good suggestions for a intake feel free to post.

i have concerns because my friend replaced his egr with some generic one and now when he is in about idle the car chuggs along almost like its gonna die and i would hate to be stuck in that situation because of the intake i bought

I haven't had an egr valve for over year, it hasn't caused any problems. Having a crappy egr is worse than having no egr. As long as your timing and compression are the same as stock, you won't encounter any problems.

Are you planning on keeping your TBI? If so you might want to reconsider that single plane intake. You'll need a square-bore to TBI adapter plate, and even then it's asking a lot of your TBI.
I feel your pain, the only other easy option is the less-than-prime Edelbrock Performer. Have you considered swapping heads instead? LO3 heads are very restrictive.

i dont plan on changing the heads, at least for a long time. i have no problems with getting the adapter plate and i plan on getting the holley 670 tbi. plus i heard the single plane intakes are better for tbi. i pretty much just want about 250 hp. and i plan on getting slp headders

Better for TBI...

Single plane intakes are better for TBI, huh? This is new to me. I'm interested in what you know. Why are single plane intakes better for TBI? Is this true even for mild street enginges?
