Just replaced a belt, new when I mash the accelerator it will sqeal!!
Like I said, I just replaced one of my belts on my car. It is the one on the left that turns the altenator and stuff. Now, the belt is quiet all the time except if I just mash it to the floor up to like 4500 or so, it will let out a sqeal. Does this mean my belt is too tight, or too loose?? I thought the tension felt pretty good, but what is your opinion.
doesn't have too much play, but I did notice it right after I put the belt on. Havn't put but maybe 75 mile on the car since I put it on. It feels about the same as the other belt on the car, maybe just a little tighter, but still has some play in it. It felt like plenty to me, I guess tomorrow I will try to loosen it a little. If that doesn't work, then I guess I will tighten it some. Wanted to get a gatorback belt for it, but they didn't have any in stock in my size, so I got the other brand. They did have the same warranty, so i was hoping it wouldn't make any differnce.
belt
Just do what the boys at the chevy dealership do and that is spray a touch of wd-40 on the belt..will keep it quiet for a touch..check your pullies for rust..that will cause a squeal..set the tension right and if that dont work go get another belt...if all fails there is always budweiser..lol
Know it's been a little while since I posted this, but the belt was too loose. Loosened it up some and it sqeeled alot, so I tightend it down and it quit. Still think I should have got a gatorback belt though. I still might go back and get one.
