Stupid/simple question...
... about engine blocks... I have seen some refered to as 4 bold, 2 bold etc... is this refering to the # of bolts for the piece that holds the main bearing to the crank or what?

yep it's the number of bolts on the number 2, 3, and 4 main caps. numbers 1 and 5 all have only 2 bolts.
