What is THIS ?!?!?
What is THIS ?!?!?
Ok, it might be on ALL 3rd gens, but it might also only be on 90-92s.
Anyway, I made a mount for the LT1 PCM so that I could put it inside the dash like the factory piece. While I was getting it in there I removed a black box that encases a small circuit board with a plug that connects to the bottom.
Can anyone tell me what it is or what it does?

Can't yet. The car has been down for work for maybe 3 months now. I did the airbox and removed the AC first. Then replaced header gaskets, installed CSI pump, new opti-spark, painted and cleaned up everything under the engine bay, redid the fuel lines, swapped up to 42# injectors, and have essentially rewired the entire engine bay. Lot of hours of labor just to get it to look cleaner. But the results are well worth it.
Right now I just have to figure out where to put the new PS reservoir, run a vacuum line to the brake cylinder, and wait for pcmforless.com to send me a new program that I ordered.
I hope to be driving again.....Friday?
Here's some info on the box if anyone is feeling entrepreneurial...
On one side it has AC emblazoned on it. I would assume for AC Delco. On the other side there is a tag with a part number that no longer references. 25110869 and underneath that in large font is 37FB. The connector on the car that goes to the box should have 6 wires I am guessing (haven't looked under the dash again in a while) They are arranged together 4 and 2.

It could be the Buffer for your electric speedo. I'm not sure about a black box but mine is yellow. It has a chip in it and it goes to the ECM.
Does it have any sort of Part number on it???? If so, just call a chevrolet dealer and give them the number, and they will tell you what it is. I did this on an escort one time, because I didn't know what a bad part was. Good luck
