86 5.0 tpi timing question
hey just wanted to know how to if at all different to time my 86 t/a 5.0 tpi motor. will the computor try to put it back if i advance it??? what should i set it at??? car just seems to have a littlle loss of power no codes and everything has been tuned up not to long ago just dont feel right like somethings holding it back. i noticed a little ping when engine temp was around 200 to 220.thanks .

the ecm will control it only from where ever you set the base at. look on the decal i don't know oof top of my head where it should time at ,maybe 0 or 6 btdc. try higher octane for the knock. make sure you unplug the est before you set the base.

thanks guys will do it thisevening......i always run 93 octane from the same place usualy.....
should i go any higher than 6 degres i was trying to see if i could squeeze a little more power out of her.....

if you're getting knock now i doubt if you can move it much. best to look for knock counts and back up 2*, or advance 2* at a time till you get some counts. might want to try lowering the operating temp.
