well actually about 6 days ago now,

since it appears the 84 Z28 isnt gonna sell or trade for a truck that i need badly right now,, i removed the frickin damned heavy hood and the hinges, and the a/c compressor and belt and hoses,
and also emptied out the console, it had about 3 lbs of change and interior screws and bulbs and fuses and junk in it, etc,

had to find a shorter belt for p/s pump i found a nice gates one around here finally, but it barely squeaked on, had to remove adjustor bolt and turn engine over to squeak it on, was a close one! phew!


car runs alot cooler and peppier and it actually doesnt turn heads as much as it did before, odd..... you would think more ppl would stop and look at it without it on because of it being different, have only caught a handful of ppl trying hard to look at the engine compartment as i whiz by,

does look pretty good with the H.0. 5.0L dual snorkel setup

hmm... what else to remove, hmmmm

You're driving around with NO HOOD?

 

I did that for a week, pretty fun. What's even more fun is, as I was on my way to a kid's house to buy his hood and put it on, I was pulled over. Where were they for the whole week? If the cop saw me a half hour later, my new hood was on. I didn't get a ticket though; he just told me if he saw me coming back the same way without a hood, he'd ticket me.

 

Why is it against the law to ride around with no hood?

A fender or a quater panel, or maybe a door I can understand. I know it's illegal to ride around without a bumper. But a hood? Are they afraid parts are gonna start flying out at people or what? Or is it just another way for the gov. to get money out of us?

I think you were right the first time. Moving parts etc. Would rather they stay in the car. Even a belt snapping and flying off could do some damage.

It is pretty cool though !

 

probably so but doesnt mean other parts cant fall off a vehicle, ive seen drivesahft come out frmo undr a truck before, and ive lsot hood off a truck i has once cuz it rusted off, took out my windshield and it got run over by a school bus coming the opposite way passing me, lol

hell i know of at least two vehicles running around right now without one fender, so...

im not wirried at all, this isnt the first time ive ever run a vehicle with missing body parts, i run by cops all the time around town everyday usually incuding county cops today, and none even hardly look

car is still running alot more peppy and cooler temps, its great now, i like it, alot more now,

i was offered yesterday to trade the car for an 87 F150 van with 300ci FI engine that looks and runs great, i may just do it, sinc ei cant seem to find any other vehicle any closer to a truck in which i really need badly, and no one wil buy the car straight up.....

i may part the 83 caprice for the all original an completely umodifed(even a/c and AIR systems are 100% there) LG4 for the 82 trans am that needs LG4 or bigger to replce the junk LG4 in it now.
maybe,,, if i can sell the 700r4 out of the caprice, its perfect working tranny,, i firgure 250 is a bargain for it really ... for what it is and how good it is. just picked up a rusted out bad bodied '74 C20 cheyenne pickup with 1900 dollar rebuilt with receipts 454 engine(big @ss score i thnk) and mint blue cheyenne interior and tilt column and tach dash and all a/c parts intact even compressor brackets are on engine, cutting up the 71 C-10 project for parts and keep the 85 350 from it and dunno what with the 85 caprice wagon yuet, sell the 700r4 out of it too, i guess, and have extra LG4 engine too, again...... ? dang,,,,
dman 305's.... they all run good at least... looking at getting a 78 3/4 ton 4x4 pickup with plow and all to buy for the 400 sbc engine and sell rest of truck for whatever,.... and try for an '87 Audi 5000 turbo that needs timing belt repair and then would be sharp pretty nice good running car,...,
