Hey

When I start the car the oil pressure is all good and in the regular place that thirdgens run. But when the car gets warmed up to normal running temp the oil pressure drops. At idle it hangs just above the red and while running its below the 2nd tick on the guage.

Whats going on with it.

Thanks

When the car is cold, the oil is thick, creating more pressure. When the car gets to its operating temperature, the oil gets hot and is not as thick.

Yeah I know that.
I was using 5W 30 and I changed to 10W 30, and it didnt do anything.

Before the car used to run at with a higher oil pressure. Now its running lower. I forgot to mention that the oil pressure used to be higher before. Sorry.

Why is the oil pressure so low no, it used to run way higher
Thanks

you're making a mistake if you trust the factory gauge for your information. screw a mechanical guage in the block and see what you have. 10 psi per 1000 rpm is considered normal and acceptable.

I would have the Oil Pump tested. I am pretty sure they can run an Oil Pressure test on it. My needle is at half way when I am stopped at a red light. If it is as low as you are saying, i would have it checked out.

yeah cragg i'd have the oil pump checked out and if it's ok put it back in since they're such a expensive part and the install isn't that bad either. you run into a lot of problems and obsticals trying to get a mechanical gauge on a SBC.
