wut is diff. between.. flexplate, pressure plate, and flywheel

ok.. the pressure plate/flexplate bolt up to the flywheel correct?? so wut is the different between pressure plate and flexplate? is pressure plate for manual trannys with a cluth and flexplate for autos??

one more question.. im upgrading from an auto to a t-56.. so i will need a new flywheel(?) pressure plate and clutch.. do i have to buy these all seperatly?? i went to thunder racing. and im not sure if i need all three of these for the swap, or the the flywheel will come with the pressure plate or what.. im confused!!!

A flywheel is the term used on a manual car, a flexplate is on an automatic. Pressure plate and flex plate are completely different terms. The pressure plate is connected to the transmission, the flywheel is connected to the engine. Sometimes flywheel and flexplate are used interchangably, although it's incorrect to do so. If you haven't already, look into an aftermarket t56. It costs more but is made to bolt directly into your car with little modification. I'm sorry, I don't have the link here because I'm not at home. I'm sure someone else does, though.

the pressure plate actually is connected to the engine via the flywheel, you bolt the pp to the flywheel, the trans is only connected to the clutch via the splines and connnected to the engine by bolting the bellhousing to the block
