Engine possibilities..1992 2S 2th. Ann. Heritage Edition
I have a 1992 25th Anniversary Heritage Edition Camaro.
I was told, and until this weekend, believed that it had a 305 LO3 with 700r4 auto tranny.
I've always thought this car was fast, but now I believe it.
I have 76,000 miles on the car, have kept the engine tuned up, and the oil changed religiously.
I have never raced a Mustang GT or a Camaro until recently, and when I did my car surprised me. My friend has a 1995 Mustang GT 5.0 with 5-speed tranny, and we raced from a 25 mph roll. We raced for 1/2 mile and he only beat me by about 1 and1/4 car lengths.
I raced a 1991 Camaro RS of a guy who lives in my town and handed him his ***. He has the LO3 and 700r4, and he is sure that is the engine in it.
I raced him from a stop and we raced for 1/2 mile. I took him by a long shot, we estimated 10+ car lengths.
What is the deal, why is my car so much faster than his lo3, and how did I keep up with a Mustang GT 5.0?
I'm thinking the owner of my car may have done a cam-swap, and head swap too. My car idles lobes pretty slow, and the exhaust chugs like a bigger engine. My friend has a 350 in his truck, and the heads on my car look bigger than the ones on his truck?
I bought my car with 34,000 miles on it.
I added a K&N open element, s/s/ hood, headers,and a cat-back exhaust. That's all I've done.
Like I said, I don;t know what would have had to been done to this engine if it is an lo3, and what other engine could it have been if it isn't an lo3? From the looks of it, it isn;t a 350 tpi or a 305 tpi, it has the tbi and all that crap on top.
Go ahead and let the flaming begin, I think I've rambled on long enough..I'm not lying here fellas!
