Ok guys, sometime within the next year, I would like to drop something around a 350 in my 85 Berlinetta. Not including exhaust, I plan on speding around 2k. Ive read the entire engine swap board, and would like more opinions on whether I should get a crate, or another alternative. My mechanical ability is about limited to plugs and oil changes. Also, got a 305 in there now. Will I need any transmission work/swap? And any computer work? Any help is appreciated, Thanks.

 

lol... i was like you when i pulled the hood off to put my new 350 in. Prior to this, i hadnt done anything more than oil changes and tune ups. If your getting a mild 350 thats a two peice then it will be pretty straight forward. There will be some other things you have to do but youll find all of that out in time if you surf the boards alot and ask lots of questions. As for mony, youll blow through that 2k in nothing flat if you get a good crate and still come up way short as far as other mods like exaust is concerned. I blasted through 1800 bux putting my cheapie crate 350 in. If you want to make that mony go further, youre best bet would be to get a reputable rebuilt or maybe a salvaged one with not too many miles, or, if your feeling brave, you could rebuild a junkyard 350 yourself.
