My F-150 is pretty quiet. I am not really know for quiet cars so I was wondering if anyone has ran straight pipes on a 4.9 Liter? Does it sound alright or should I just leave it? Thanks

A good friend of mine straight piped hie 4.6L F150 and I think it sounds like crap. Those things have 4 cats on them. I guess it muffles the sound. It sounds like a motor with and exhaust leak.

You have a 300 straight 6 too? SWEET. Let me speal about the motors for a few. You will never break it, they have a main bearing between each cylinder. They use a gear drive cam so no timing chain to replace. They have TONS of low end torque (mine is useless over 2500 RPMs). Now, go over to www.ford-trucks.com and hunt through the message boards. They have some unique ways to make em sound good.

ive heard a few that sound decent with a nice cat back. There are plenty of companies that make them. Go ask around on other message boards. The ford engines are different beasts entirely so us chevy guys probably wont be much help.
