air filter Q's

I have a 305 tpi in my 86 Z. It has a mild port job and a crane powermax 2030 cam. It has a dynomax exhust as well. Would my car better benefir from an open element air filter or from a cold-air kit i saw being produced by SLP?

the only reason i would run an open element on a TPI car, or any car for that matter is if i had a cowl induction or a ram air hood....
