Head work

I just came into a free opportunity to do some major engine work on my car and i was just wondering what you guys think about having my cylinder heads cleaned and that sort of thing, what would you guys think about that?

Not TBI heads. L98 perhaps. But, swirlports (assuming they are swirlport heads) aren't worth any kind of reworking for performance.

Well, not necessarily porting them, but just removing them from the engine and cleaning them out if they may have some excess "crap" inside of them

I know this masuse shop that did head work. I mean they.....wait your talking about cars oh ok! Well cant you just have them dipped in paint thinner or lacquer thinner? That is the usual way to clean up parts.
