Holley Street Dominator Fit
Does anybody know if the Holley Street Dominator will fit under the "composite" hood of an 82 CFI, or camaros in general. The PART # 300-36 and the height is 4.44" in the front and 5.33" in the rear.
Thanks
Leigh

This one is going to be real close.
While simular in height to the Performer RPM, The holley 300-36 it is about .4" higher at the front of the carb (or aircleaner)
To fit this intake under your stock hood:
You are going to have to use a drop base air cleaner
The lowest one is the one used By GM on late 60's
muscle cars see my pick.
It will be a good 1/2 inch lower and better designed than any of the copy cat aftermarket ones. See the pics.
The aircleaner lids seem to be the same, its the base that is different. You'll be limited to a 14x2.5" filter element.
Reguardless of what Experts will tell you, this is all the filter height youwill need for up to 450/500hp IF YOU USE THE RIGHT GM AIRCLEANER BASE. There is a difference.
You can still buy this base from Aftermarket restoration sources
like YEAR ONE and Eckler's Corvette. See this thread:
https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...AND+aircleaner
I have not actually fit this exact manifold to a third gen, but if any
set up is going to work, its this one. It is going to be close.
Further:
Best to use a **Holley** carb on this one.
An Edelbrock carb requires an Edelbrock# plastic adapter spacer
to use this GM aircleaner base. It's about 3/8".
That will raise the whole aircleaner assembly an additional 3/8"
Because of this I'm pretty sure The edelbrock carb/ holley 300-36
combo will not fit under the stock hood.
