Drag car interior and electrics

Alright I just got done working on my car.I am gutting the interior as much as possible.I took out all the seats except the drivers,Took out the rear 6x9's and took out the stereo and the A/c and heater controls.I also took out the Front 4x6's and the little trays the hold them.I took out the spare tire and all the junk.

The person the had the car before me hacked up the stock wiring harness pretty badly. When I pulled the motor Out I was very stupid and just cut most of the wires out.So tonight while I am gutting it I pulled computer out.My dad said That I need it because I still have an in tank fuel pump.Which I plan on putting a fuel cell in it.But I will leave the stock tank in it for a while.

So do I need it?Can I somehow wire it up to switch where I turn it on when I want to?What should I do?I want this car to be very simple. Not 50 million wires running everywhere.I want the headlights and tail lights/brake lights to still work and the key to start the motor. All aftermarket gauges including the speedo.

I know there are some people on here with Drag cars how do they set there's up?

Eventually I ripped out all the factory wiring. The car is now wired to exactly what I want. No extra wiring anywhere.

Factory wiring backtracks on itself a lot. A circuit may start under the dash, go into the engine compartment then back into the dash again. Lots of extra wires. There has to be at least 20 pounds of wiring in a third gen.

Although it's a big job and some planning is required then best thing for you to do is remove all the wiring and start from scratch. I installed my own fuse panel and relay panel. Every circuit is controlled by a relay. When I turn on a switch, ie. fuel pump, the switch turns on the relay that feeds power to the fuel pump. That way there isn't a power surge through the switch.

As for lights, all the gauges have lights in them. There's one working headlight and tail light for night time racing.

When I did the motor swap, I threw out all the wiring (except for the special style connectors (ie head light switch...) and ran all new wires. I used the existing fuse box and added relays as needed.

DON'T run your electric fuel pump from an on/off switch alone. Run it through an oil pressure switch. That way the fuel pump will shut off when there is no oil pressure (ie a crash). I used one made by Holley.
