no temp and no speedo

Bought a 85 Z for $300 @ an auction. The engine is completely mickey moused. The wiring harness is good but for some reason my temp guage and speedo arent working. With an engine this crappy i need to know how hot it is until i can afford a new/rebuild. Thnx.

Temp gauge wiring is dark green, should come out of the harness next to the throttle linkage and go over the VC and exhaust manifold then down to the sender. The sender goes in the driver's side head between the #1 & #3 spark plugs.

That's a bit high, 190-220 would be more normal.

If the engine didn't seem to be particularly hot, try a new sending unit.

The speedo problem is probably the cable.
