It'll make a sort of tapping sound. Think of metal hitting metal. If you've ever bent a pushrod or had your valves set too loose it could sound similar.

Mine sounded more like multiple gun shots going off every i time gave it more than about 1/16 throttle. It was actually backfiring up through the carb...
