Square CS teflon seals

I thought someone here might have installed these before?

Background: A few years back I was attempting to rebuild a Chrysler steering rack and the rebuild kit included what appeared to be teflon o-rings with a square cross-section. I tried to install these but ended up distorting and ruining them (they deform/stretch fairly easily but do not return to their original shape like rubber o-rings). The money on the rebuild kit ended up being wasted and I finally bought a factory rebuilt rack.

Is there a trick to installing these? Maybe gently heating them? Nobody seemed to know on the Chrysler list; the number of users here is much greater.

If these are like the ones in steering gears, or automatic transmission sealing rings, try boiling them for a few minutes before installing them.

Thanks!

I will file that info away. Sounds like I'll run into them again.
