signs of bad rings

ok, i pulled the heads off the 350 tonite........i have a set of barely used 305 heads i am putting on it, so lets not worrry about valve seals

except for the usually carbon buildup on the tops of the slugs, everything looks pretty clean

would it look any different if the rings were causing oil to be burned?

theres a slight ridge at the top of the bore......not too concerned with that as its slight...........

comments? what should i look for before i install the engine?

thanx

You might seriously consider installing a fresh set of rings just for insurance. You have most of the work done right now.

If you have a perceptible ridge in the bore that means your rings are worn too.

yeah, i guess that wouldnt be a bad idea...........the pistons that i currently have are garbage for performance too, so i guess i should do new pistons and rings

i guess while i have it all apart, might as well check the bearings too

thanx
